LuxPRO Thermostat Won’t Change Temperature: How To Troubleshoot

I have always liked my LuxPRO thermostat in terms of its performance and design.

The bonus is that it is super easy to use. So, I never had to spend hours on articles telling me how to set up the device or program it.

However, I recently had an issue with the temperature setting on my thermostat.

I was feeling a little cold. So, I walked up to the thermostat to turn up the heat, and it just wouldn’t change.

The issue was pretty new to me. As a result, I wasn’t able to fix it straight away.

I went through pages and pages of user manuals, articles and videos online to find the right solution. Thankfully, it was a very easy fix.

If you are not able to change the temperature on your LuxPRO thermostat, try to perform a hardware reset. You can also try a software reset and cleaning your thermostat.

Try a Hardware Reset

This is the easiest fix for your issue. Although the method has the word ‘reset’ in it, don’t worry because it will not erase your preset schedules or temperatures.

To perform the reset, take the front of the thermostat off the wall. You will see a tiny round black reset button which will be labeled “HW RST”.

Press and hold the button for around 5 seconds before releasing it. The screen will fully populate for a few seconds.

This will most likely help you in changing the temperature. If that doesn’t work, try a software reset using the steps given below.

Perform a Software Reset

Before you perform a software reset, please do note that this will erase all the user-adjustable settings and use the default values instead.

You should write down anything you wouldn’t want to change, like preferred temperatures and your schedules.

Before you go through the reset procedure, you’ll have to unlock your LuxPRO Thermostat.

Here are the steps to perform a software reset.

  1. First, move the System Mode switch to the OFF position.
  2. Now press and hold the UP, DOWN and NEXT buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds and then release them.
  3. You will see the display screen becoming fully populated. In a few seconds, it will return to normal.

Clean the thermostat and mounting

When you don’t clean your thermostat for a very long time, there could be a decrease in its efficiency. Get a soft brush or a cloth and try dusting.

Firstly, you need to remove all the dirt on the outer cover. After that, remove the cover and dust off anything you can find.

Secondly, get a dollar bill and move it back and forth between the mounting to get the dust or debris off the crevices.

Please make sure you don’t touch any important parts with your bare fingers in the process.

It’s always better to clean your thermostat once in a while to improve its performance.

Check wiring

The next method is to check if the wiring is intact. Before you do so, make sure you have cut the power to the device.

Now, remove the thermostat off the wall plate and check if there are any loose wires.

Faulty wiring will definitely cause problems with the working of your device.

You should contact a professional right away if you think this may be the reason.

Contact support

If none of the above methods worked for you, you could give the Lux support team a call. They will fix the temperature issue in no time.

Conclusion

Take care to turn off the power before working on any sort of electrical wiring. It could worsen problems if something short-circuits.

Sometimes, this problem occurs because of your display. So, before you reset the thermostat and lose all your custom settings, you need to make sure that the problem lies with the thermostat itself.
