It’s sticky, sweaty, and just plain hot everywhere you go. The sun is strong, and it looks like it’s only going to get hotter as July goes on.
Some lucky people have air conditioning that works great, but for the rest of us, we need to find other ways to stay cool.
Thankfully, TikTok is full of helpful tips, and one in particular caught my eye.
I found a video by Christina, a TikTok user who goes by @christinakayscheftic.
Usually, she’s like most of us, just watching DIY videos but not trying them out. But this time, she decided to try a trick from another TikToker, Claire Edwards, or @theclairenecessities.
And it worked!
So, what’s the secret to staying cool without spending a lot of money?
It’s all about using those simple foam boards you can find at Home Depot or Lowe’s. They’re not expensive at all.
Christina even got some for just a couple of cents each!
The best part is, it’s super easy.
Just measure your windows, cut the foam boards to fit, and there you have it! Your own DIY window insulation.
Put the boards up against the glass, and they’ll keep the hot air out and the cool air in.
It won’t look pretty 🙁
Sure, it might not look super pretty, but who cares when you’re feeling nice and cool?
Plus, you’ll save money on your energy bills, which is always a good thing.
But that’s not all! This trick doesn’t just work for windows.
You can use it for other parts of your house that get too warm, like doors, skylights, or even those little gaps around your attic.
Just cut the foam boards to fit and enjoy the cool air.
