Casting Oculus Quest 2 To A Samsung TV: (Easy Way)

Last weekend, I was excited to show off my new Oculus Quest 2 VR headset to some friends.

The plan was to cast the gameplay onto my Samsung TV so everyone could watch.

But when I tried to connect the headset to the TV, it just wouldn’t show up as a casting option.

After some quick troubleshooting, I figured out a few easy methods to get everything working perfectly.

If you’re in the same boat, don’t worry—I’ll guide you through the steps to cast your Oculus Quest 2 to a Samsung TV, no matter what setup you have.

1) Cast Oculus Quest 2 To Your Samsung TV Using a Laptop

One of the simplest ways to cast your Oculus Quest 2 to a Samsung TV is by using your laptop as a middleman.

Here’s how you can do it:

First, cast Oculus Quest 2 to your laptop:

  1. Open a browser on your laptop and go to the official Oculus website.
  2. Log in to your Oculus account.
  3. Turn on your Oculus Quest 2 and press the Oculus button on the right controller to bring up the Main Menu.
  4. Select the Camera icon, then choose Cast.
  5. From the list of devices, select your Computer and hit Next.

Now that your laptop is displaying the Oculus Quest 2 content, it’s time to get that content on your Samsung TV.

Next, connect your laptop to the Samsung TV:

  1. Plug one end of an HDMI cable into your laptop and the other end into an available HDMI port on your Samsung TV.
  2. Use the Source button on your TV remote to switch to the correct HDMI input.
  3. Alternatively, go to Menu > Connected Devices on your TV and select the right input.

Your Samsung TV should now display everything that’s happening on your Oculus Quest 2.

2) Cast Oculus Quest 2 To Samsung TV Using Chromecast

If your Samsung TV doesn’t have built-in Chromecast, don’t worry—you can still cast your Oculus Quest 2 by using an external Chromecast device.

Here’s how:

  1. Plug the USB power cable into the Chromecast device.
  2. Insert the Chromecast into an HDMI port on your Samsung TV.
  3. Plug the power cable into a wall outlet or use the USB port on your TV.
  4. Switch your TV to the correct HDMI input using the Source button on your remote.
  5. Make sure both your TV and smartphone are connected to the same WiFi network.
  6. Download the Google Home app on your smartphone and follow the instructions to set up the Chromecast.

Once Chromecast is set up:

  1. Turn on your Oculus Quest 2.
  2. Press the Oculus button on the right controller to open the Menu.
  3. Select Sharing, then choose Cast.
  4. Pick your Chromecast device from the list.

The Oculus Quest 2 content should now be casting to your Samsung TV.

3) Cast Oculus Quest 2 To Samsung TV Using Meta Quest App

If you don’t have a Chromecast device handy, you can still cast to your Samsung TV using your smartphone and the Meta Quest app.

Here’s how:

First, cast Oculus Quest 2 to your smartphone:

  1. Download the Meta Quest app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Launch the app and turn on your Oculus Quest 2.
  3. Make sure your headset and smartphone are on the same WiFi network.
  4. Press the Oculus button on the right controller to bring up the Menu.
  5. Select Sharing and then Cast.
  6. Choose Oculus App from the list of devices.

The Oculus Quest 2 content will start displaying on your smartphone screen.

Next, mirror your smartphone screen to the Samsung TV:

For Android devices:

  1. Ensure your smartphone and Samsung TV are on the same WiFi network.
  2. Open Quick Settings or go to Settings on your phone and enable the screen mirroring feature (e.g., Smart View, Screencast, Screen Share).
  3. Select your Samsung TV from the list of devices.

For iOS devices:

  1. Connect your iPhone to the same WiFi network as your Samsung TV.
  2. Open the Control Center (swipe down from the top right on iPhone X or later; swipe up from the bottom on iPhone 8 or earlier).
  3. Tap on AirPlay and select your Samsung TV.

The Oculus Quest 2 content should now be mirrored from your smartphone to your Samsung TV.

4) Cast Oculus Quest 2 To Samsung TV Using Amazon FireStick

Another option is to use an Amazon FireStick to cast your Oculus Quest 2 to your Samsung TV. Here’s how:

  1. Connect your FireStick to your Samsung TV and download the Airmirror app from the Amazon App Store.
  2. Make sure both the FireStick and Oculus Quest 2 are on the same WiFi network.
  3. Open the Airmirror app and follow the setup instructions.
  4. On your Oculus Quest 2, press the Oculus button to open the Menu.
  5. Select Sharing and then Cast.
  6. Choose your FireStick from the list of devices.

The Oculus Quest 2 content will now be cast to your Samsung TV via the FireStick.
